Places to visit nearby:

Mottisfont Abbey - Beautiful historic priory house and gardens.  Lots of lovely walks nearby for humans and pets and although dogs are not allowed inside the buildings, they are welcome in the outside seating of the cafe where you can buy doggy ice cream for your canine family!

Paultons park - includes Peppa Pig world - Child friendly theme park with plenty of attractions including rollercoasters!  Buy on line to make savings and take advantage of special offers.

The New Forest - No more than a ten minute drive away you will reach the world famous new forest which spans 571 square km.  Great for  all walking abilities as it is mostly flat.

Beaulieu National Motor Museum - Lots to see and do here and can make for a full day out!  Along side the National Motor museum itself is the world of Top Gear, The lovely ruins of the medieval Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House, stunning gardens and a fantastic "secret army" exhibition about the code breakers who learnt their skills during the war in Beaulieu.  Book on line to save costs of tickets and queues!

Bucklers Hard, near Beaulieu - Historic shipbuilding village with reconstructed interiors to take you back to a time long ago.  Please note due to its historic nature and riverside location, some area are less accessible to visitors with mobility impairments, consult website for further details

Places to visit further afield (within an hours car journey):

Poole - Lovely seaside town which boasts some of the most expensive properties in the world in Sandbanks.  Poole harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world and a ferry trip to Brownsea island is a must!

Salisbury - The beautiful medieval Cathedral dominates the "city in the countryside".  The most wonderful place to shop, lots of little independent shops as well as high street favourites.  Visit nearby Stonehenge and its full revamped visitors centre.

Adventure Wonderland, Bournemouth - Situated by Bournemouth Airport this is an attraction perfect for children with over 30 rides and attractions, its most famous being the Alice in Wonderland Maze!

Places to eat nearby:

The Hatchet - Traditional family friendly pub, this is the closest pub to us as well.  Good food served here, classic pub fare.  It has a good sized car park, secure children's play area and they welcome well behaved dogs, although not in the dining area.

The Cromwell Arms - Gastro style pub with a great food reputation.  Child friendly restaurant but no real play area for them, dogs welcome in the outside seating areas and there is a large car park.  Worth advance booking at weekends.

The Three Tuns - This pub has been awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide.  Traditional style British food with a modern presentation .  Lots of great local real ales are available here!

Places to eat further afield and really worth the detour! :


The Guildhall Tavern, Poole - Fantastic French restaurant in the heart of old town Poole and a stones throw from the quay run by Frederick and Severine.  They specialise in local fish and traditional french dishes and they have a very good wine list which is great value, Sebastian will help you to choose your perfect tipple!  Look out for their incredible value French evenings which are super fun! They welcome children and can cater for special diets on request.  Please note this is a very popular restaurant and it is essential to book in advance.

The Chewton Glen - Relais & Chateau country hotel and spa, lovely restaurant with extensive wine list.  Good for a special occasion as it is a little on the pricey side.

The Cartwheel Inn - Lovely traditional pub run it is about three miles from Fordingbridge.  They have a lovely beer garden and serve up some tasty food.  There are lots of walks around this area and dogs are welcome here!

La Fosse, Cranborne - Family run restaurant with rooms run by Mark and Emmanuelle Hartstone.  The menu is locally sourced and I would say to look out for the beautiful home baked breads and a lovely cheeseboard which comes with a full description of each cheese usually given by chef Mark himself!  Limited covers so it is essential to book in advance!
